Petticoat Power! - *Day 3*

Scarlet is a splash in the mud, get back up if you fall down, trucks are cool kinda chick.  She's has yet to swoon over sparkles, bobbles or books like Fancy Nancy and Pinkalicious.  She's never cared what I dress her in, so we haven't really dabbled in the dress-up stuff I've collected for her.  Yesterday I pulled out the stash of tutus that I purchased when I was still pregnant and boy oh boy -  Scarlet was in awe.  Not only did she immediately start asking to "put on! put on!" but once it was on, the "pwintheth" skirt wasn't coming off again.  It went on over her outfit and then again over her pjs at bed time.  Like any obsession, things escalated from there.  It started with her going to each door and telling all occupants of the house "Eyen a pwintheth!" while doing an o-so-dainty (read awkward and nobby) tippy toe princess dance.  By bed time she had two tutus and a tea party goin' on.  I attempted to take them off before I put her in her crib and was met with a Beeble banshee screech that is apparently some sort of parent diverting super power gained whilst wearing the tutu.  I laid my darling, angel-face (newly diva-esque) girl down and let her sleep with the frills. Picked my battle there and that sound wasn't worth the fight, or the heart ache for her.
This is the beginning, of what I'm not sure.  But it's up to Scarlet to use her
petticoat power for good or evil.
PS - How is it that ALL little spunky girls like to pair their tutus with golashes?  Scarlet insisted on trying on her rain boots with every tutu enhanced outfit.

  1. Such a sweet memory you were able to blog today. Melody has been playing with her dress up clothes and tutus lately as well, only she doesn't wear boots with them...usually she wants us to put on tap shoes which are 3 sizes too big for her still, and she will tap her little heart out in the kitchen with her little skirt swirling around. I need to start capturing these memories more for myself, her busy mommy, and her as well.

  3. Have you ever even my hint cuter?! Oh lord, she's going to be a heartbreaker. Reminds me of a high school friend. Her nickname was Beaut(Beauty), she saw beauty and the beast as a child and insisted on being called beauty for years. The nickname just stuck!

  4. Awe she is too cute. I love the tutu! RThis reminded me of when my little sister was 2 & had a "princess dress" that she never wanted to take off. I was actually sad when she outgrew it :( Good thing for lots of photos :)

  5. Lol! The picture on the left is my favorite. Scarlet is just lounging around with a mouthful of tea! I wish I had a mini rocking chair when I was little. :)

  6. Is it weird that I am totally jealous she is rocking a tutu. Why can't tutu's be acceptable to wear for adults? Some times a girl just needs a tutu day...I totally get it.
